Though they are often made of durable, long-lasting performance fabrics specifically manufactured to be used outside, when exposed to the elements, they can dirt, debris, mould, mildew and more, so it’s important to know how to keep them clean.
We would always recommend starting off by checking any care labels or care instructions that came with your cushion.

For removable cushion covers
Step 1
Firstly, remove the cushion cover and keep the cushion inner somewhere dry to avoid mildew. Shake the cover to remove any loose dirt or debris, paying special attention to any corners where dirt may be lingering.
Check whether or not your cushion cover is machine washable by viewing the care details on the product page. If you’re not sure, contact our customer service team who will be able to advise.
Step 2
If it is safe to wash in a washing machine, pop the covers in and wash on a low temperature, gentle cycle. If your cushion cover is not machine washable, clean using a damp cloth with warm water. For any tough stains, make a paste using baking soda and warm water and spot treat the stain.
Step 3
When finished, hang your covers somewhere dry, allowing them to fully air dry before putting the inner back in.
For non-removable cushion covers
Step 1
If you can’t remove the cushion cover, start off by shaking your cushion to remove any dirt or debris. You could also use a soft-bristle brush to get into the corners or a vacuum with an upholstery attachment.
Step 2
First, try rinsing the cushion using a garden hose on a medium to high pressure. Avoid using a pressure washer as this may damage the fabric.
Step 3
If your cushion needs a deeper clean, use a paste made from baking soda and warm water. Use a soft bristled brush and gently work the paste into the surface, going back over any stained areas as needed. Wait a few minutes to allow the solution to soak.
Step 4
Use your garden hose again and thoroughly rinse away all of the cleaning solution. Squeeze out any excess water and then use a clean, dry towel to soak up as much water as possible. Allow your cushion to dry completely before using it again. An outside, sunny location is preferred.

Garden cushion storage
It's a good idea to properly store your cushions, whether you're packing up for the winter months or overnight during summer, in order to avoid dirt, mould and mildew from building up.
Choose a cool, dry environment such as a garage or loft and keep your cushion off the ground where possible, such as on a shelf. A garden shed is also a good option but as they are susceptible to damp, be sure to place it off the ground, preferably inside a breathable box.
