GP & J Baker x Kit Kemp II

Heritage British brand GP & J Baker and Kit Kemp, Founder and Creative Director of Firmdale Hotels and Kit Kemp Design Studio, have collaborated for a second time, creating a wonderfully vibrant and characterful collection of wallpapers, prints, embroideries, weaves, stripes and richly textured plains, with a fresh, contemporary presence.

Combining Kit’s eclectic design taste and love of colour with GP & J Baker’s impressive design expertise and extensive archive, the two forces celebrate global design and craftsmanship in a truly inspiring way.

“United by a shared creative spark, passion for textiles, craftsmanship and the power of design to tell stories, we have created a comprehensive collection that is at once bold, detailed, generous and richly layered”

Kit Kemp

Hearing Kit speak about the collection at an exclusive preview in Paris, her enthusiasm was unmistakable. We’re pleased to share some of the stories behind the designs, along with her expert tips on how to incorporate them into your own spaces.

Tudor Rose fabric

Tudor Rose is a striking large-scale floral fabric design, inspired by the craftsmanship of skilled artisans whose work would have typically been found on the walls of country homes.

Kit’s personal favourite from the collection, this design originates from a 1928 GP & J Baker archive pattern called 'Portugese', influenced by Tudor damasks and 16th–17th century Chinese Macao embroideries. Reimagined by Kit Kemp, this design has been updated and recoloured, giving it a more contemporary feel.

Tip Toe fabric

Drawn from Kit Kemp’s archive of distinctive weaves, Tip Toe is a lively striped design that brings a sense of rhythm and playful energy. Its dynamic pattern creates movement across the fabric, adding depth and visual interest when used in a scheme.

Presented in a vibrant, free-spirited palette of rich indigos, forest greens, and crimsons, Tip Toe makes a striking statement whether used for upholstery, curtains, or soft furnishings, effortlessly enlivening a space with colour, texture, and character.

Noah’s Ark wallpaper

Noah’s Ark is a charming and characterful wallpaper, featuring playful animal motifs that appear hand-stitched and brought to life with intriguing colour combinations, reflecting Kit’s love of folk art and handcrafted pieces.

This striking print works beautifully across all four walls, on a ceiling, or even between cabinetry for added detail. Its bold, statement-making design adds personality and vibrancy to any space.

Also available as a coordinating fabric.

How to decorate like Kit Kemp

  • Known for layering pattern, colour and texture, Kit's rule is that every scheme should have a plain fabric, a striped pattern, a weave and a print. Begin by ordering samples to see how your favourite designs pair together.
  • You should let patterns breathe and have space, they need to balance one another out with different scales. This is the key to creating a truly cohesive scheme.
  • Kit is passionate about colour. Enrich your home with colour and you will create a space that's joyous and uplifting, as well as playful and fun. The colours in her collection have been carefully selected to enable you to mix and match different patterns harmoniously.
  • Nothing makes an impact quite like a bold stripe on upholstered pieces — whether on a sofa or the kind of statement headboard Kit Kemp has become renowned for. Tip Toe or Tim’s Rug are both great options for this.
  • Kit loves handcrafted elements that add warmth, character, and individuality. Complete your scheme with thoughtful accents, from antique finds to pieces collected along the way. A room doesn’t have to be finished - let it grow gradually, layered with memory and meaning.
