This handcrafted rug, made from 100% New Zealand wool known for its quality and softness, combines Chontos' dynamic visual language with Layered's textile craftsmanship expertise.
Each rug in the Heather Chontos collection takes 5 to 10 days to make, requiring 2 to 3 artisans. Weavers use hand-knotting and switch between 10 to 15 yarn shades to follow the pattern. Various dyeing techniques, like space, solid, and abrash dyeing, capture the depth and colour of Chontos’ paintings. After completion, the yarns are washed separately, and the rug is hand-cut for the final touch.
