Adapted from a 20th-century fabric held in the V&A’s textile collection, Peony Garden features graceful peonies in full bloom, capturing the essence of a lively and playful printed fabric by Tootal, Broadhurst, Lee & Co. The firm was a leading producer of fine cotton textiles, and its light-hearted and whimsical designs were frequently incorporated into apparel and home décor. The pattern echoes the enduring ‘country house’ aesthetic, characterised by florals and pastoral scenes, which remained popular in the 1920s and 30s. Shown here in the Natural colorway.
